Karaweik Palace,a prominent and iconic landmark,is situated on the Kandawgyi lake in central Yangon.

Designed by the renowned architect U Ngwe Hlaing,in the style of a royal barge, the design includes the traditional Pann Sel Myo, the ten flower arts and crafts of Myanmar. The unique Karaweik mythical bird design has attracted visitors to its culture show and restaurant from near and far since its opening in June 1974.

Karaweik Palace is the only place in Yangon where you can discover authentic traditional performances, arts and crafts, a great variety of cuisine and sincere Myanmar hospitality in a palatial setting. We endeavour to provide the best authentic, diverse cultural experience with genuine warm hospitality, so that everyone may take their wonderful memories home.

The Karaweik Palace restaurant is open daily for Myanmar authentic a la carte from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm and the traditional dance show and buffet from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm every evening. Karaweik Palace is a unique place to host large special events.

Our charming and entertaining culture show is packed full of fascinating performances. The dances portray various historical times in Myanmar history, dating back to the Pyu era. Our stage comes alive every evening as the wonderful dancers recreate traditional performances which vary from quiet, serene and elegant to flamboyant, loud and dynamic.

The unique Kanari and Kanera performance, Elephant Dance, Go Kyi Kyaw Dance and traditional puppet show are portrayed by skilled dancers.  A spectacular display of ethnic costumes ranging from simple village dress to intricate ornate dress for both ladies and gentlemen. You will see the formal hairstyles of the ladies are traditional and how everyone looked so smart in the past, whether from the countryside or the Palace. In our photo gallery you can see more.
